Peninsular Malaysia
From southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia makes its way 1000 kilometers to Singapore.
Important stops include the colonial Penang city of George Town, historic Malacca, and the dynamic capital of Kuala Lumpur.
Her natural marvels include the Cameron Highlands, Tioman Island, and the rustic uplands of Kelantin state.
Malaysian Borneo
In the two states of Sarawak and Sabah, you'll find 25 different ethnic groups, including the largest peoples, the Iban (Sea Dayaks) in the former, and the Kadazan in the latter.
Sarawak's highlights include the cultural capital of Kuching, and the National Parks of Bako and Gunung Mulu, and upriver travels along the great Rejang River.
In Sabah, you find some of Asia's best diving in the islands just off the coast of the seaside city of Semporna. Mountain adventures beckon on the heights of Mt. Kinabalu, the highest mountain between the Himalayas and New Guinea.
Getting to and around Malaysia is relatively easy, with many international and local flights, and a very good intercity bus system.
