1. Bako National Park (day trip)0830hrs – pick-up from hotel, proceed to Bako Village (35 mins), followed by a 25-minute boat journey to the park itself. Bako is arguably unrivaled in Sarawak for viewing wildlife in a natural surrounding, including the proboscis monkeys unique to Borneo. Hike through lush jungle trails, and swim in the sea by secluded beaches. Return to Kuching mid-afternoon. (Schedule may depend on tide.) (L) Includes:

2. Bako National Park (2 days, 1 night)Day 1 0830hrs – Pick up from hotel, transfer to Bako Village (35 mins) where a 25-minute boat ride will take you to Bako National Park. Trek jungle trails and marvel at a diverse assortment of wildlife, view sunsets, or relax and swim by secluded beaches. Overnight at the park chalets. (L,D) Day 2 Following breakfast, hike on lush jungle trails, further exploring delightful Bako. Return to Kuching by early afternoon. (B,L) Includes:

3. Mangrove Swamp Tour (day trip)Drive from Kuching for about 45 mins in the direction of Damai beach. Board a small boat and start your cruise to the mouth of the Salak River. You should be able to spot the elusive and rare schools of Irrawaddy dolphins, which are quite common in this area. As you continue your cruise along the Salak River, experience the lush mangrove forest. And depending on the tide, you should be able to see the mudskippers, blue crabs, kingfishers and other birds and perhaps the odd small crocodiles. Occasionally, macaque and the proboscis monkeys may be seen. Your cruise will take you through Kampong Salak, a small and traditional Malay fishing village build on stilts. End your cruise at Kampong Samariang Batu where it is a half hour’s trip back to your hotel. Note: Since you will be exposed to the hot tropical sun, we highly recommend that you bring along a cap, sunshades and sun block. Includes:
4. Nature: the Amazing Rafflesia (day trip)0830hrs – Pick up from hotel, head for Gunung Gading National Park (2 hours), home to the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia. En route, visit a pepper farm. Upon arrival at the park, proceed for an hour of jungle trekking along the plank walk in search of the Rafflesia in bloom. Relax or swim at a picnic spot by a beautiful stream before departing for Pandan Beach, 15 minutes away. Return to Kuching late afternoon. (L) *Please note that the Rafflesia Flower only blooms occasionally. Includes:

5. Nature: Crocodiles and Fireflies (day trip)1700 hrs – Pick up from your hotel late afternoon for half an hour’s ride to Kampung Bako. From Kampung Bako, meander by boat along Sungai Bako towards Sungai Deba. Fiddler crabs, mudskippers and sometime the monitor lizards are often to be seen foraging amongst the roots of the mangroves. Common birdlife include the kingfishers, herons, egrets and sea eagles. Upon arrival at Sungai Deba, retrace the journey back in the dark to Kampung Bako. Clusters of mating fireflies may be seen lighting up the mangrove trees. Estuarine crocodiles can be easily spotted; their eyes reflect red when shone with a flashlight. Return to hotel by early evening. Includes:
6. Nature: Primates & Reptiles (day trip)0830hrs - Depart for the Semengoh Wildlife Centre (approx 30 mins), and observe the orangutans during feeding time. Proceed to Anah Rais, a peaceful Bidayuh village, where you can learn about the culture of the Land Dayaks, who were once headhunters. Visit the baruk (head house) where skulls can be seen. Return, proceed to Crocodile breeding farm and mini zoo that include birds and some animals endemic to Borneo. On the way back to the city, call in at one of the pottery factories. Return to hotel. 7. Rainforest Kayak Adventure (day trip)Pick up from hotel at 0800 for an hour drive through rural Kuching to Krokong Village. Begin your kayaking adventure on a meandering river with beautiful karst formations. Occasionally the placid waters will be punctuated with Class 1 and 2 rapids; feel free to glide or to paddle downriver. Wear a light short sleeve shirt with shorts (cotton is not recommended as it does not dry easily) or your swimwear. You may want to bring a spare change of clothes and a towel; we suggest a good sun block, hat and shoes that are not afraid to be wet; any equipment that you may bring should be placed in a watertight plastic bag. A bottle of mineral water is included. Return to Kuching by about 1500. Includes:

8. Satang Island (day trip)Drive from Kuching for about 45 mins in the direction of Damai beach. Board a small boat and start your cruise to the mouth of the Salak River. You should be able to spot the elusive and rare schools of Irrawaddy dolphins, which are quite common in this area. Head out to the South Chinese Sea for Satang Island. The island is part of the Talang / Satang National Park and there is a turtle conservation project on the island. Green Turtles and the rare Hawksbill Turtles often lay their eggs here. Look in on the hatchery to get an idea of conservation work on these highly endangered sea creatures. Spend time on the island’s white sandy beach or go snorkeling. In the crystalline waters off the island, enjoy the corals and the marine life. A packed lunch and refreshments will be provided. Retrace your journey back in the mid afternoon. Be back by your hotel by about 5 pm. Remarks: This tour is suspended during the monsoon season (from November to March) due to rough sea conditions.
