Delivering the Best of Asia to Discriminating Travelers
Getting around Peninsular Malaysia
Getting around Peninsular Malaysia is relatively easy, by air, bus, and rail. Many airlines serve a number of Malaysian cities, and low-cost carriers such as Air Asia make this mode of transportation more popular than ever. Fast, aircon intercity buses serve all routes and are generally on-time, or close to it. The romance of train travel still exists in Malaysia, whether you choose the exotic “Jungle Train”, or the Butterworth-Johor Bahru main line, which connects cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Melaka-Tampin. Ferries and commuter boats run to all islands, facilitating seaside holidays and scuba activities. Rental cars are available in all major cities, from all of the major international companies, as well as local establishments. Selection will be greater in Penang and Kuala Lumpur. Cars are right-hand drive, and you drive on the left side of the road. Malaysian roads are generally good, and well-marked. |
